Home Our Services Executive Edge Seminars Cross-Cultural Management

A course in developing cross-cultural understanding and competency.

Why offer a seminar on cross-cultural management?
Fact 1: Today's manager increasingly has to work in international and cross-cultural environments.
In addition to the normal pressures of people-management, managers are called on to deal with the challenges and potential friction that derive from cross-cultural differences without necessarily recognizing or understanding their own cultural bias. Too often the attention given to this management firefighting is to the detriment of recognizing the positive aspects of working in an intercultural environment. Effective management in the modern environment necessitates cross-cultural competency in order to get the best out of a multicultural team.
Fact 2: The mono-cultural team is a thing of the past.
The companies and organizations of today consist of staff from the four corners of the globe. Colleagues work in multi-cultural teams either in the same office or across borders. Issues can and do arise in areas such as approach to management, expectations, decision making, planning, conflict resolution and communication styles. It is paramount that clear lines of communication are promoted and cross-cultural misunderstandings minimized if such multi-cultural teams are to function effectively.
